Massage reminds your body of the pleasure of taking time out. – Joe Linn, CMT
Before I became a massage therapist I had worked in high end food service industry as a chef, a manager and a caterer. After 17 years I was tired of the grind and looking for something completely different.
That summer I took a retreat to Big Sur. After receiving a massage one afternoon I took a walk amongst the towering redwoods and it hit me. I should become a massage therapist. I had been giving massages to my friends and family since I was a kid. Everyone would tell me that I was very good. I have also always enjoyed receiving massage. Massage had helped me recover from several work related injuries, as well as reduce my stress. If anyone has ever seen "Hell's Kitchen" then you can understand what caused my stress.
Once I returned home from Big Sur I began searching for my Massage school. I found Diamond Light School of Massage in Marin county and began my training in a foundation of Swedish Massage. Twelve years later I have continued my training and expanding my knowledge of bodywork. I am currently trained in Swedish, Myofascial Release and Unwinding, Craniosacral Massage, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Reiki and Pregnancy Massage.
